Do Hyaenas run in packs?

The basic social unit is called a clan, which in the Kruger Park can number up to 30 individuals of both sexes and all ages. Clans, or packs, usually remain stable in composition. All males must leave their natal clan as sub-adults and join another clan. The clan is very loose and members are often scattered singly and in small packs.
